Welcome from the Principal

Dear Heights Families,

There is great excitement in the halls of Heights School as we prepare for the arrival of our new kindergarteners and the return of our “senior” students, the first graders. Heights has been a busy place this summer! Our dedicated custodial staff have meticulously cleaned our classrooms, while our office personnel have been receiving supplies, answering phone calls and preparing information for the opening of school. Our teachers are arriving to prepare their classrooms for the welcoming of their new students, who they will confidently lead down the path of learning at Heights.

At Heights, we believe that education is a collaborative effort between home and school. We value the partnership between parents, guardians, teachers, and students, as it plays a crucial role in fostering a positive and enriching learning environment. Together, we can nurture the potential of all children and guide them towards success.

As we embark on this new chapter, I want to assure you that our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing an excellent education while prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students. Our priority is to create a secure environment that fosters learning and personal growth. Our school curriculum is designed to challenge and engage students at every ability level. We will continue to emphasize critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and collaboration, preparing our students for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century. Our dedicated teachers will provide a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages students to explore their interests, develop their talents, and achieve their full potential.

In addition to academic excellence, we also believe in the holistic development of our students. Throughout the year, our students are engaged in classroom discussions, class programs and day-to-day conflict resolution that builds strong character and social skills. Children are taught to empathize, manage anger appropriately, and seek adult support when social situations are challenging. Through the support of our Social Worker and Psychologist, children become confident in their ability to resolve conflicts.

In closing, I would like to express my gratitude for entrusting us with your child's education. Together, let us inspire and guide our students towards a bright and successful future. Know that our doors are always open to you and that we welcome the opportunity to talk about any concerns that might arise about your child. Once again, welcome to the new school year.

Warm regards,

Mary E. Wood
